Join us as we take you through how to spend your first 24-hours in the city, taking in as many sights as you can and getting as authentic a Moroccan experience as possible.
Morning (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Any visit to Marrakech needs to start in the Djemaa el Fna – the city’s main square.
If you’re feeling a little jetlagged, don’t worry – this UNESCO-recognised square will wake you up in no time.
Equally mesmerising and chaotic whenever you visit, the Djemaa el Fna is a great way of finding your feet in Marrakech and is the perfect place to enjoy a hearty breakfast before your non-stop day of sightseeing.
After you’ve eaten and caffeinated yourself up, spend the latter part of the morning walking through the square’s alleyways and souks.
Eventually, this will navigate you towards the Marrakech Museum, where you’ll be able to learn all about the city’s rich history.
Housed within the former Mnebhi Palace, the museum is stunning and offers the perfect example of the classical Andalusian architecture you’ll find within the city.
Lunch (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM)
After all that time reading up about Marrakech’s history, you’ll probably have worked up a bit of an appetite again.
Fortunately, there are a number of great places to choose from within close proximity to the museum.
However, if you’re looking for a combination of incredible views and a range of traditional Moroccan dishes, our rooftop restaurant at the Riad El Zohar is the perfect place to visit for a quick bite to eat.
Afternoon (2:00 PM – 5:30 PM)
Once you’ve eaten, hop in a taxi towards one of Marrakech’s most relaxing and beautiful sites: the Jardin Majorelle.
The vision of landscape painter Jacques Majorelle, the garden offers the perfect spot to let your lunch go down while soaking in some of Marrakech’s most-loved culture, sights and scenery.
Whether you fancy spending the afternoon meandering around the vast landscaped grounds or relaxing next to its soothing streams and fountains, the choice is up to you.
However, make sure you find time to visit the on-site Berber Museum, located within the Art Deco villa-studio of Jacques Majorelle.
Evening (5:30 PM – Late)
Taking a 20-minute taxi ride from the Jardin Majorelle will get you to Café Clock. While this may sound like a simple place to get a bite to eat, it’s really anything but.
In addition to an extensive menu of food, Café Clock offers a number of cultural activities for you to get involved in.
From hosting live music events throughout the week to holding traditional Moroccan storytelling workshops, the café also offers cookery classes, teaching you all you need to know to have an authentic Moroccan culinary experience back at home.
